Michael Lamb left his award winning firm in Seattle as an Owner / Principal for the opportunity to work for the City of Boulder as the Project Manager on the Valmont City Park. Michael used his extensive experience to oversee the successful consultant final designs and construction of the park which was the first of its kind in the U.S. On 42 acres, Valmont Bike Park is the largest municipal bike park in North America. Valmont brings together the greatest number and quality of bicycle amenities into a single suburban facility. The facility is designed for both public day-to-day recreational use and for special events and races including world-class events like the UCI National Cup of Cyclocross that attract the top riders from around the world.
Bike Park includes: Four miles of bike trails, two dozen terrain park features, cyclo-cross features, beginner-friendly skill loops and pump park, premier dual slalom with start gate, beginner to expert slopestyle courses, permanent race event podium, historic renovation of the Platt Farm House and plaza, irrigation, landscaping and erosion controls, planting over 250 trees, 340 shrubs and native grasses, two large parking lots, new restroom facility, comprehensive safety and information signs, right of way improvements along two streets, new 10’ wide multi-use access path, and new children play area and mini tot track.
